Fighter Archetype

Fighters are exactly what they sound like. Conflict is a likely part of any long adventure in the wilderness and the wise welcome trusty comrades with sharp blades and a courageous hearts.

Soldier (Conduit Cities): Soldiers are members or former members of the Census Office Sweep Teams (Grey Cloaks) or Stalkers (Green Cloaks), the main military outfits of the Conduit Cities. It is also possible that an individual was part of the City Watch and was allowed to train with these groups. Grey Cloaks are the quick reaction force of the Conduit Cities and respond to Incursions from the Ergon Peoples and threats to the Conduit Plants. They specialize in defensive, small unit tactics in urban environments. Stalkers patrol the wild boundaries of Conduit City territory in small teams of 2 or 3. At home in the wilderness, these individuals are as skilled in natural lore as combat.

Warrior (Ergon Peoples): Warriors are the defenders of their semi-nomadic tribes. While they do coordinate in small groups during Incursions into Conduit Cities, they are far more individual fighters due to differing cultural goals and fighting styles influenced by their powerful Elixirs. It is believed among the Ergon Peoples that some of them are able to become possessed by the spirits of comrades who fought by their side in previous lives, multiplying their combat prowess for a short time. The Conduit City folk dismiss such tales, but their own doctrine recommends that even elite Grey Cloaks give ground in the face of a Warrior in such a state.

Freeblade (Unaligned): Freeblades are Fighters not trained in any particular style. Each has a set of skills as unique as the stories of how they got them. These individuals are usually not tied to any group or cause for very long, though their wide experience and unpredictable skill set make them valuable allies while they stay. Many of them are soldiers of fortune, but others just like to wander or have their own quests to pursue.
