This is where we discover the truth about direct conveyance and how a sentient elemental is used to "prime the pump" so to speak and draw energy. A form of slavery and torture that causes much hatred amongst elementals when they arrive. Nearly all of them willing to fight will side with the monk in the assault on the cities, which, of course, is how "Baird" discovers what he is.
The name Baird has Scottish and Gaelic origins, traditionally meaning "bard" or "poet." It was often used to describe someone who was a storyteller or musician. Baird can also refer to a surname, and it carries connotations of creativity and artistry.
What is the twist which re-contextualizes the whole series? The elemental slavery? Maybe. Is it the knowledge of the planes about to collide? Or is this just an explanation vs a re-contextualization? Re-contextualization changes characters' relationships. Explanation tells why they did something. What am I trying to re-contextualize? What information am I witholding and to what purpose? Does it have something to do with integration? Or is this all Resistance's bullshit stopping me from writing Clarissa's tale?
Must show the Conduit Plant inner chamber where the story will end later.
Logan's wife and Baird are trapped in the Conduit's inner chamber.
