God is a natural process and a result of natural laws just like evaporation and oak trees. Does the Pilgrim manifest physically in the world? I am leaning towards no. The Shadow manifests because there is a problem, not because it is natural. I need to think on this more. The Pilgrim could send its servants, however, the Fire and Lightning elementals. Fire rank higher. The Pilgrim is essentially a Primal Force elemental.
How do I indicate (do I even need to?) that the characters see their world in color even though to the reader everything is in greyscale? I do not want the reader to think that the element colors are as visible to the characters as they are to the reader. I am not sure if that makes sense. I'll have to come up with a clearer way to solve the problem.
The graphic novels are black and white except for when the raw elements are laid bare. Those are the only colors. Consider as well important moments or strong emotions linked to the elements. Touches of color bring tremendous focus in a black and white world. The elements are emissive as well, they produce light in their given colors.
Each scene is comic book sized and each Act is a small graphic novel. The whole thing is an omnibus.
